Royalty. Born the second son of King Heinrich III. and his wife Agnes de Poitou. He was born sometime in September or October of 1052 in Regensburg. He was named Duke of Bavaria in 1054. He was buried in the church on the Harzburg Castle by his brother emperor Heinrich IV. When angry Saxon peasants invaded and destroyed the castle in 1074 they also desecrated the graves in the church and scattered the bones.
