Billy, a Vardaman High School graduate, spent his entire life in the sweet potato capital of the world. He spent many seasons of his life growing the iconic sweet potatoes that only come from Calhoun County. When Billy wasn’t occupied with running a farm he could partaking in a broad variety of activities such as, casting a line in hopes of good day fishing and churning out creations with his woodworking skills. Billy loved his family and he also loved his dogs just as much. As a member of Friendship Baptist Church, he hid the words of the Lord in his heart and cherished the gift of salvation He offered.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Linda McClain Alexander of Vardaman; one son, Billy Gene (Liz) Alexander of Big Creek; three daughters: Judy (Mike) Holder of Vardaman; Lisa (Doug) James of Vardaman; Lynn (Delwyn) Havens of Bolton; ten grandchildren: Jennnifer Doss, Jena Hood, Jeri-Laken Greer, Jayla Greer, Shaun James, Jacob James, Abbie Fortner, Hinton Havens, Phebe Havens, and Carly Havens; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: James Larry (Betty) Alexander of Vardaman; Kenneth (Susie) Alexander of Vardaman; one sister, Donna (Loyd) Montgomery of Naples, Florida.
There will be a private family visitation on Sunday, February 28, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman . The funeral service remembering his life will be held on Sunday, February 18, 2021, at 3:00 PM with Bro. Jerry Hartley, Bro. Fred Hartley, and Bro. Joey Faulk officiating.
Derek Doss, Justin Greer, Kipper Greer, Hinton Havens, Nathan Havens, and Nathan Hood will carry Billy to rest in Elzey Cemetery. Nona Taylor will serve as an honorary pallbearer
In lieu of flowers ask that memorials be given in Billy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s hospital and Friendship Baptist Church.
