William Louis Barnes is the third of seven children born to Bingham "Bing" and Mary Elizabeth Plumber Barnes.
William spent his entire life in Trimble County, Kentucky marrying Mattie Clara Abbott, also of Trimble County. They have six children: Addie Louise Barnes, Mildred Elizabeth Barnes, Herbert Clifton Barnes, William Douglas "Billy" Barnes, Obie DesSpane Barnes and Irvin Rudolph "Rudy" Barnes.
