Moses was the son of John and Phebe Adams of Wilton, Franklin County, Maine.
His father had been born there and his mother in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Moses had been born in Wilton.

Moses married Catherine S. Grinnell/Grimmell/Grimwell October 20, 1852 in New Bedford, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He was 21 and a farmer. Catherine was 22, the daughter of Oliver and Sarah Grinnell and had been born in Marthas Vineyard or Tisbury, Massachusetts. She had been age 19 in the 1850 census with her parents in Chillmark and her father had been a farmer.

In 1855 the couple was living in Edgartown, Dukes County, Massachusetts and had children Otis, and Leander. In the 1860 census the couple was living in Chilmark, Dukes County, Massachusetts and Moses was farming and age 28. Catherine, also 28, and Moses had children Leander L. age 7, Otis L. age 5, and Annie G. age 3. By the 1865 State Census they were living in Dartmouth and had added Lydia and Susan to the family. Moses had an addition child Eben G. born about 1867 and perhaps others.

Moses lived later in Manchester New Hampshire 1878 and was living there in 1880. In 1880 Catherine, wife of James Hughes age 48, was living in Chapman Plantation, Aroostook County, Maine. Catherine had been born in Massachusetts and in the household were her children, Leander age 27, Eben age 13 and Nellie age 10 also born in Massachusetts. James Hughes died 1889 in Chapman Plantation and was buried with his first wife in Presque Isle. In 1900 Catherine and her son Leander were residing back in Massachusetts.

In 1880 Moses was 49 living in Manchester NH in the household with Thomas W. 56 and Mary A. Stickney age 43. Moses was a teamster and was enumerated as being widowed. The following year Moses married Mary A. Stickney on March 25, 1881 in Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Marriage record gives his parents as John and Phoebe Adams of Wilton Maine. Moses was age 49 and it was his second marriage and marriage record indicates he had been widowed. It was the second marriage for the bride who was was age 44. They were married by Rev CR Crossett Jr. of Manchester.

Moses died of a gunshot wound at age 50, 5 mos, and 6 days and death occurred on Second Street in Manchester. Moses had been a farmer.

Death record indicates buried Piscatquog Cemetery, Manchester, NH, on March 13, 1882, John N. Bruce, undertaker.

In 1900 there was a Catherine Adams living with her son Leander in Massachusetts; she was widowed, age 69 and this Catherine died in 1904. It would appear this was the same Catherine as had been wife of Moses Adams as her death record attests.

Mary A. Stickney's daughter Carrie was also buried in this cemetery.
