Campbell, Willard D., The Rose Man, 93, of Lake Placid, Florida, died Wednesday evening, September 23, 2015. He was in the companionship of his loving niece and nephew. Willard was the son of Ms. Mary Ridner and James Campbell, born March 9, 1922, in Gray, Kentucky.

Willard entered into the US Army at an early age... which some say was very early! He was a decorated WWII soldier and was an accomplished marksman, a class he later instructed. He retired after 23 years with the US Army.

Upon Willard's retirement he founded Landmark Construction Company in Louisville, KY. He designed and built homes for many years. Willard and Ms. Opal came to Lake Placid from Kentucky in 1981. As we well know, Mr. Willard was extremely well known through-out the Lake Placid community for the beautiful roses he grew in his back yard and for his kindness of sharing those roses by distributing them to the people and businesses in Lake Placid.

Willard is survived by his niece, Barbara Dryman (Bob), and was pre-deceased by his dear and loving wife Opal (Brafford) Campbell.

The family will have private services at Michael A. Brochetti Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the loving devotion of: Michael A. Borchetti Funeral Home, Lake Placid, Florida.
