OSKALOOSA INDEPENDENT, DECEMBER 30, 1904:
Mary Isabella Weir was born in Knoxville Tennessee December 28,1822 and was married to William Fletcher Rogers on September 3,1841. To this union were born nine children, four of whom still live. In 1843 they moved to Polk County , Missouri and lived there until the spring of 1866, then they moved to Jefferson County Kansas where they continued to reside. Her husband W.F Rogers died December 28,1871. Grandma Rogers' life was spent well. She was converted to God in her youth. In her was fulfilled the word of God , 'Remember now thy creator, in the days of thy youth.' Religion to her was a source of joy, it was a 'lamp unto her feet and a light unto her pathway'. Though weary with age , yet years could not keep her from God's house, the place she loved and even a few weeks before she died she was found with God's children in His Sanctuary. Her life was a benediction to all who came into her pathway. On the 28th day of December 1904, she was not, for God had taken her. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, L.R Burdock, at the home of her son , where she lived until her death. Thus ended the life of a devoted wife, a loved mother, a true Christian. Her work is done, she is at rest, but her influence for good will ever live.
