Jacob R. Abbot, died, at Hutchinson, Kansas, December 23, 1923, at the age of 64 years and 11 months.
He was born in Sicken(sic) county, Illinois, December 12, 1859, and as a child the family moved to Dayton, Ohio. When he was 21 he moved to Nodaway county, Missouri, then to Greenwood county, Kansas at the age of 27. There he met and married Miss Mary E. Sander, July 21, 1889, and no children were born.
He was a machinist for the Missouri-Pacific railroad at Coffeyville, Kansas until May 1898, when they moved to Ness county, Kansas, ten miles southeast of Ness City, and remined there until June 1918, when the moved to Ness City. Later they moved to Bazine, Kansas, February 1923, and started a mercantile business.
He is survived by his wife and foster son, Charles Abbot, of Leoti, Kansas, two sisters, Mrs. Etta Rowe, of golden, Colorado, and Mrs. Ella Miller, of Beaumont, Kansas, and three brothers, T. Abbott, of Wichita, Bert Abbot, unknow whereabouts, and Charles Abbot, of Pratt, Kansas.
