Married to Margaret Elizabeth Smith on December 21, 1881. They were the children of William Henry, Lillie Viola and Mamie Lee.
He was the son of Dr. Dewitt Clinton Adam and Mary Tabitha(Eskew) Moses. His brothers were Luciene Syme and Edward Ira Moses. Dr. Moses died in 1862, during the Civil war.
A friend of Dr. Moses, George Miller Conquest Crowell, returned to Alabama after the war and married the widow Mary Tabitha Moses.
They had six children. The following were the half brothers and sisters of Newt: John O. Franklin Crowell, Cross Conquest Crowell, Annie Catherine(Crowell) Bertling, Lulo Oma(Crowell) Ramsey, Minnie Virginia Crowell, and Lillie Alice(Crowell) Biggs.
