Mary Ellen Ramsey was the daughter of Thomas Porter Ramsey and Mary Jane (Gilmore) Ramsey. Mary married George Wallace Seaman on January 18, 1877 in Clinton Co., IN. George and Mary had one son, Lawrence Wallace Seaman. Mary died from complications after childbirth.

The 1860 census says Mary was born in Indiana. The 1870 census says Mary was born in Illinois. Thomas P. and Mary Jane Ramsey moved from Indiana to Mercer County, Illinois c1855-1857.
