Joseph T. Pacek Jr., 83, of Greensburg, died Wednesday Feb. 17, 2021, after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's disease and complications from covid-19. He was born on Jan. 11, 1938, in South Greensburg, a son of the late Joseph T. and Anna (Kundrick) Pacek, Sr. Joseph was retired from Kennametal Inc. with over 31 years of service as an accountant. He was an Army veteran having served in Korea, a 50-year member of Blessed Sacrament Cathedral and was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church. Joseph loved being around people, and he had a heart of gold, always willing to help anyone in need. He literally has given people the shirt off of his back and money from his pocket from many years of volunteering weekly for St. Vincent DePaul help night. He was the treasurer of St. Vincent DePaul store, of Greensburg, from its start in 1985 to his retirement in 2001. He also drove a truck for the St. Vincent DePaul store for many years, collecting donated furniture. Joseph was an usher at the cathedral for 35 years and a Eucharistic minister for over 25 years, distributing Holy Communion at weekend Masses, Westmoreland Hospital on Sunday mornings, nursing homes and home visits during the week. Joseph was also a Westmoreland Hospice volunteer for over 20 years, and he served as a member of the RCIA team at the cathedral for many years teaching prospective new Catholics about the faith. Joseph's favorite pastimes were scratching off lottery tickets and going to the casino, and he loved to do both often. Joseph was a graduate of Youngwood High School, Robert Morris Business School and St. Vincent College as well as a Knights of Columbus member, Greensburg. Joe always had a welcoming smile and a joke for everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by a daughter, Baby Pacek; and a sister, Geraldine Jurkovic. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Judith Ann (Kistner) Pacek; two daughters, Kimberly (Leo) Moga, of Derry, and Laura (Phil) Pacek, of Smiley, Texas; two sons, Robert (Patricia) Pacek, of New Alexandria, and Michael Pacek, of Greensburg; a companion dog, Spirit; five granddaughters; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Private services were held for the family. Entombment with full Military Honors followed in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
