Her mother passed while Laquita was still young. Her father later remarried Katie Rose Smith.
She was the oldest of three brothers and four sisters. She married and gave birth to two sons and two daughters. She married John William Watson on October 12, 1978 and gained a step-son. She had her own Nail Shop for 22 years before retiring and leaving the shop to her daughter.
She loved to travel and she has lived in or been to most states in the United States. She also traveled abroad with mostly her sisters.
