Adolf J. "A.D." AHlers, was born of Henery and Martha Ahlers in Osage County, Mo., on Jan. 18, 1907. Shortly ethreafter the family moved to a small farm east of pueblom weher they harvested among other products, cauliflower and celery. As a young man, A.D. was employed with various enterprises with his brothers and became a mechanic and painter with W.K. Hurd. A.D. went to work for CF&I before World War I and retired from there as an electrician in 1973. On June 12, 1964, A.D. married Helen (Kerr) Ahlers and moved to Beulah, Colo, where they lived and raised livestock and poultry until 1991. He was a member of Beulah United Mthodist Chruch and the Beulah Historical SOciety. A.D. loved to fish and was able to do so as recently as two months ago. He also enjoyed conversation and telling his grandchildren stories. A.D. was preceded in death by his wife, helen, in 1989; his borthers, Rudy and Art; his sisters, Hildao Oldham and Clara Perry and a son, Willima. He is survived by his sister, Lena Samec of Pueblo; daughters, Louise (Herbert) Even of Beulah, Donna (George) Abel of Pueblo and Wanda Hahn of Littleton. Survivors from a previous marraige include a son Robert Ahlers and three daughters, Becky Ahlers, Cheryl Leckner and Sandra Brown. Funeral services, 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997. Adrian Comer Garden Chapel with the Rev. Hugh Critchett officiating. Viewing at the funeral home from noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday. A reception at the funeral home reception hall will follow the service. Those who wish may make contributions to the Beulah Fire Department or the Beulah EMT in memory of A.D. Interment, Beulah Cemetery. Flower orders may be placed through the funeral home office. Arrangemenrs by Adrian Comer Garden Chapel, 2710 N. Elizabeth.
