Davis Woodel was in World War II, in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of The Bulge. He was married to Katherine Allene Duggins Woodel. He made his living as a TV repairman and spent his retirement enjoying his children aDavis O. Woodel, 84, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2006, at the home of his grandson in Upperco, Md. He was born May 26, 1922, in Surry County to Charlie M. and Margaret Ella Crouse Woodel. Mr. Woodel was a proud veteran of World War II, serving in France and participating in the D-Day invasion. He was a retired television repairman and enjoyed travel, fishing and camping. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Katherine Allene Woodel; and a granddaughter. Surviving are a son, Albert Woodel, and wife Beverly of Morganton; two daughters, Beckey Russell and husband Dennis of Shrewsbury, Pa., and Barbara Woodel and husband Daryl Williams of St. Mary's City, Md.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Frank Woodel, of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation Society of Maryland is serving the Woodel family. Published in Winston-Salem Journal on September 29, 2006 (edited)
