J. R. Blackburn, died at his home three miles north of High Hill on Sunday, June 17th. He leaves a wife and four children, one child having preceded him to the grave about three weeks. He was conscious of his condition and expressed no fear of death. He told his children to meet him in heaven.

We located John's tombstone at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, High Hill, Montgomery Co., MO in April, 2007. It is in very poor condition and very difficult to read. Located next to him are 4 other stones in very bad condition and almost impossible to read, but I am sure that 3 of them are his children and the other one may be his wife prior to his marriage to Mary Howard.
