Obituary for Edna Mae Stewart Edna Stewart was born Edna Mae Nelson on May 29, 1919, in Armour, S. Dakota. She was the second of five children of Norman and Ivah Nelson. They lived in Armour until 1934 when the family moved to San Jose, Ca. Edna attended and graduated from San Jose High school in 1937. Over the years, she worked as a bookkeeper, at the local movie theatre and in the canneries. However, her lifelong, primary occupation was being a wife, a homemaker and a mother. Edna met and married her first husband, Floyd Keeble, in 1941. They had one son, Jerry Keeble, born on July 26, 1942. After that marriage ended, Edna and her son moved to Oakdale, Ca, where she worked as a bookkeeper. She met Frank Stewart at the Oak Grove Pavilion. They were married in 1950 and resided in Stockton, Ca. Edna and Frank had one son, Eddie, in 1952. They celebrated their 50 year anniversary in 2000 at their home in Escalon, Ca. She lost Frank in 2005 and was a widow at the time of her death. She died in her home on Mar.13, 2013, last Wednesday evening. Edna had many interests and hobbies, but she really enjoy fishing and always caught the most and the biggest fish. She shared this interest with her husband Frank and the two spent many happy hours in the boat fishing and camping. Edna was an excellent gardener. She had a Green Thumb. Everything she planted grew up like weeds. She loved cutting fresh roses from her yard and arranging them for her table. And she loved having fresh tomatoes from her vegetable garden. Edna was such a wonderful seamstress that Eddie and Jerry always had custom shirts and jeans to wear. Edna also enjoyed puzzles and word games, and she collected frogs. Edna was a remarkably strong and hardworking person. She was tough, independent, and at times stubborn. She showed her love in the way she took care of everyone and everything. Edna is survived by her younger sister, Carol Kirkendall, her sons, Jerry and Eddie, one grandson, John Keeble, three granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. Thank you for being part of our lives. We are all going to miss you.
