Charles Edward Bane
January 22, 1965 - February 5, 2021

Charles Edward Bane (Charlie) was born on January 22, 1965, and he completed his earthly journey on February 5, 2021.

Along with his three siblings, Charlie was adopted by Robert S. and Carolyn B. Bane when he was four years old. Charlie found his greatest joy in life when his girls Erica and Ansley were born. Even when life took him and his former wife Lisa Valdemarca - whom he loved deeply - to California, Charlie spoke with his girls often and always kept them laughing. Charlie spent his 24-year career with Hyatt Hotels as a Director of Engineering. He saw engineering challenges as feats to be conquered, always doing so creatively while keeping work light for himself and the people around him with his humor and famous pranks. Charlie’s last months were spent in Bland, Virginia under the care of his loving family. During his time in the southeast, Charlie was able to spend quality time with his daughters. He also had the great joy of visiting his first grandson, Matthew Harrison Rodriguez.

Charlie is preceded in death by his biological mother Judy Hite Jones and adoptive Father Robert S. Bane.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Erica Bane Rodriguez (Ryan), Atlanta, Georgia, Ansley Bane Barker (Kyle) Tifton, Georgia, grandson, Matthew Harrison Rodriguez, his adoptive mother Carolyn B. Bane, brothers, David C. Bane (Becky), Robert A. Bane and sister, Sandra B. Eastep (Doug), his dear cousin Patricia E. White (James).

The family would like to express appreciation to Carolyn King of the Bland Medical Clinic for her compassion and excellent medical care and to the Rev. Howard Finkel for his tender conversation and friendship which Charlie so enjoyed.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021, at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Bland-Leyburn Presbyterian Church in Bland, VA, the church Charlie attended in his youth. Those wishing to remember Charlie may make a gift in his memory to the Bland-Leyburn Presbyterian Church, Kim Goins, Treasurer Main Street, Bland, VA 24315. The Bane family is in the care of A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate.
