Alan Vincent Andries passed away on February 10, 2021.

He was born in DeQuincy and grew up in Alexandria, living a short time in Greely, Colorado and most of his life in Baton Rouge.

Alan bravely faced nearly six years of struggle with ALS. This disease is a cruel thief, he faced it with grace and courage that inspired everyone who knew him. Though ALS stole his physical strength, he had more than enough love, faith and composure to keep it from stealing his joy. Reflecting on his diagnosis, Alan had this to say: "One may say when faced with this news, 'Why me?' Please know that God has blessed me for seventy years with a wonderful life and very good health and I hope to stay active for as long as I can. With His grace and strength, I pray I can say 'Why not me?'"

Alan's passion in life was helping family, friends, neighbors and strangers. He could fix anything and everything. He was always the first to offer help with a project or offer needed advice. He loved to travel and had a special place in his heart for Colorado where he found contentment and peace. In his latter years, he played tennis and cards with two wonderful groups of life-long friends until his diagnosis.

He attended Menard Memorial High School in Alexandria and earned his BS and Masters in Economics from Northeast Louisiana State University (now ULM). He spent nearly five decades in the financial services industry. Whether in banking or brokerage, he served hundreds of clients throughout his career guiding individuals and families towards their financial goals. His calm demeanor, integrity, and character made others trust him easily. He handled the intimacy of his clients' finances with care, wisdom, and responsibility. Alan was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Maureen; three sons, Chris (April), Eric, and Scott; a step-son, Kyle Duncan (Martha); a step-daughter, Kelly Duncan; brothers and sisters, Ronnie Andries, Kala Meadows, Alice Cosenza, Lynn Andries (Janette), and Terry Andries (Lorilee); and his grandchildren, Madelyn, Lily, Joseph, Aidan, Thomas, Michael, Rosemary, and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ruby Myers Andries; two brothers, Donald and Mike; and a sister, Candace Gammill.
