William R. "Bill" Williams, 83, No. 5 Mimarchelle Dr., Rockmart, died January 21, 2004. Mr. Williams was born in Polk County, GA on March 28, 1920, son of the late Tevis Mae Hulsey Williams and the late William Oliver Williams. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Williams retired in 1981 with 41 years service with the Seaboard Coastline, now known as the CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Cartersville Masonic Lodge No. 63 F & AM and had been honored with a 50 year membership pin. He was a member of the Brown-Wright American Legion Post 12 and was a member of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Margaret Braswell Williams in 1984. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kittie Davitte Williams, Rock-mart; daughter, Mrs. Linda Palmer and her husband Warren, Orlando, Florida; three sons and daughters in law, Preston and Laura Williams, Trussville, Alabama; Daniel E. and Sandy Williams, Pace, Florida and Alan and Rhonda Davitte, Cartersville; sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Seymour, Mrs. Ann Wilson and Mrs. Flora Morrissey, all of Rockmart; brothers, Arthur Williams and Horace "Bud" Williams, both of Rockmart; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Friday January 23, 2004 in the sanctuary of Rockmart First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carol Cook and Rev. David Autry officiating. Interment was held in the family lot of Rose Hill Cemetery. Sons and grandsons serving as pallbearers: Preston Williams, Daniel Williams, Alan Davitte, Bill Williams, David Williams and Scott Williams. Freeman Harris Funeral Home had charge.
