Betty Ann Paller (nee: Bauman) 95 years of age, and a lifetime resident of South Amherst, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice Residence Center following a long and full life.
Betty was born December 29, 1925, in South Amherst where she was raised and lived out her life.
Betty’s foremost joy in life was that of being a housewife and mother. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ where she had served as a Sunday School teacher. Betty was a registered nurse and received her training at Huron Road Hospital School of Nursing. She used her nursing skills at both Amherst Hospital and Oberlin Hospital when she was a young lady. Betty was a past president and member of the South Amherst Ladies’ Auxiliary American Legion Post 197. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and was a member of the South Amherst School System PTA and was an Alumni Officer for the school.
Survivors include her son, Wayne (Sue) Paller of Amherst; her granddaughter, Lynn Marie (Donald) Schmitz; her grandson, James (Devin) Paller; and great grandchildren, Chris and Collin Berthold, Sarah Schmitz, and Macy Paller as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Holzhauer in 1959, and her second husband, John Phillip Paller in 2010; by her daughter, Sandra Lynn Paller in 1975; her brother, Gerald Bauman; and her parents, Charles and Alice Bauman (nee: Wragg)
Public graveside services will be held Thursday, 1pm, at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst
