Timothy Halstead III was the eldest of 12 children of parents Timothy Halstead, Jr. (1658-1735) and his wife Abigail (Carmen) Halstead (1665-1732) originally from Hemptead in Long Island, New York. The family came to Elizabeth, New Jersey after a large land purchase in March of 1721.
Timothy III married Margery Pearsall on May 9, 1713 in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York. This marriage produced 7 children. Timothy and Margery originally settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey with Timothy's family, in 1721, but later removed to Shrewsbury Township in Monmouth County, New Jersey where both died and are buried.
