MELDRUM S. YOUNG, of Houston, a native of Utah, died Sunday, May 19, 1996, at his residence. He was 76 years old. Mr. Young retired from the Houston Chronicle after 20 years of service as a reporter covering City Hall. He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant, having served in Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno, Normandy, France, Germany and Ardennes. Mr. Young attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and graduated from the University of Houston, and he attended the University of Houston Law School. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas. Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Ruth Doss Young.
