George was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late George August and Margaret Cates Barker. George was retired from Michelin, where he worked as a machine operator and attended Earles Grove Baptist Church. George was an avid Clemson Football fan and had a great love for his pets.
George is survived by his three sisters, Doris Jean Barker Price (Calvin), Susan Barker Adams (Robert), and Brenda Starnes (DJ); and several nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by wife and his brother, Danny Michael Barker.
A private graveside service at Oconee Memorial Park.
