Henry Penrose Achey was born September 11, 1886 at Shelby and died at Denison, February 28 at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 17 days.
On February 20, 1907 he was married to Minnie Elizabeth Ziebold at Logan, and ten years later they moved to Manilla.
Mr Achey was employed by the Milwaukee railroad for many years and later he opened a plumbing shop, which he operated until eight years ago. He was a member of Golden Leaf No. 595, Manilla chapter No. 408 O.E.S.; M.W.A., and served the Manilla Fire Department for 20 years, five of which he was fire chief. He united with the First Presbyterian church, and remained a member until his death.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and two infant sons. Surviving are an adopted daughter, Velma, one sister, Mrs Hattie Ruhrer of Bridgeport, Nebraska; two brothers, Marshall of Tecumseh, Nebraska and Peter of Riverton, Wyoming; and one sister-in-law, Mrs Doll Chamberlain.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in Manilla Monday afternoon, March 2, with the Rev. John M. Klosterboer officiating. Graveside services were in charge of the Masonic Lodge, and burial was in the Woodbine cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frank James, Harold Nieman, Robert McLaren, Ray Armstrong, Wilbur Jahn and Ray Jorgensen.
