Glennis Lowell Thompson, 81, of Turtle Creek passed away on February 10, 2021 at home after a short illness.

He was born on July 5, 1939, the son of the late Stacy and Beatrice Booth Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant children, Vanessa and Lowell, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. He was the last living child of his parents.

Glennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kirby Thompson of Danville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Glennis was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. After his retirement he worked at Easter Mine Supply and an array of security companies. He worked as a security guard up until his illness in 2020. He was a man who liked to stay busy and was a hard worker. He was a former member of the WV Horsemans Association and was a member of the Boone County chapter for many years. He had a love for Dodge trucks. His friends would laugh and say he was always up for going to look at a good truck he could fix up. Glennis enjoyed eating daily at Tudors with his friends. Anyone who met him considered him a friend. He was a genuine and faithful friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was baptized in his home on January 29, 2021 by Frank Ball.

As per his wishes there will be a wake held at the Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Freeman Funeral Home with Frank Ball and Alan Barker officiating. He will be buried with his children in the Stanley Cemetery, Mud River Rd. Danville, WV in a private burial.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 14, 2021 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
