Thomas William Carlson, 61, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at Centennial Rehab & Healthcare, Moline.

Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial gathering will be held at a later date in Joliet. Memorials may be made to QC Paws or the American Heart Association.

Tom was born on December 6, 1959, in Joliet, Illinois, the son of Fred W. and Mary Louise (Hewitt) Carlson. He attended University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, graduating with a degree in business. He married Mary Lou White. They later divorced and remained close. He was previously employed by B. Dalton, Trinity Hospital System, Trailways and the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed music, movies, and being with friends and family. He also enjoyed his cat companions. Tom was a Die-Hard Cubs fan and was delighted when the Cubs won the World Series.

Survivors include his sister, Sue (Paul) Nagel, their children, Alan, Claire (Alex) Hjelmaas, Glen, and Mark and several cousins that he grew up with.

He was preceded in death by his parents, older brothers and sister, and Aunt Cathy and Uncle Jack Azman.
