William E. Wall, a resident of Clarks Hill, was killed Monday morning by Luther Page, who struck him over the head with a two by four. The killing was the result of a quarrel which began Sunday, when Page, under the influence of liquor, was abusing his wife and Wall interfered. Monday morning Wall and Page were at work together on the elevator which is being wrecked at Clarks Hill. Page, who was still under the influence of liquor, again took up the argument and in his rage he hit Wall over the head with a piece of timber, killing him instantly. Wall fell from the elevator wall, a distance of eighteen feet, after being hit with the timber. Page made his escape, but a posse was organized to search for him and he was found northeast of Linden at 10 o'clock and arrested by Paul Lovelly, marshal of Linden. Soon after he was taken to Crawfordsville, after which the authorities of Tippecanoe county came for him and he was taken to Lafayette where he was placed in jail. William E. Wall was 40 years of age and unmarried. Page is 39 years old and has a wife and six children. Immediately following the murder Sheriff Kay was notified to be on the lookout for Page, who had immediately escaped.
