James Harvey Davis passed peacefully from this life on Thursday, February 4, 2021, after a gradual decline in health. He spent the last days of his life surrounded by his loving caregivers at Benndale Personal Care, in Lucedale, Mississippi.

Jimmy was born April, 11, 1941 to Henry Ealon Davis and Evie Lucille Davis. He was a graduate of Moss Point High School. He attended William Carey College, Perkinston Jr. College, University of Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State College. He earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Science and Psychology. He received multiple Certificates of Achievement in Continuing Education for Alcohol and Drug Studies, Addiction and Treatment Issues and Recovery for Adolescents and Adults. In the 70’s he served as Football Coach for the St. Martin High School Yellowjackets. Jimmy received honors for Coach of the Year and Football State Championship. In 2018, he was inducted into the St. Martin Athletic Hall of Fame where he was recognized for his accomplishments. He coached HS football, JH football, basketball and track from 1968-1980. He was head football coach for three seasons with a 24-7-1 record and 3 bowl games. He was PRC Coach of the year 1971 and 1980. He was an avid reader, always passionate and eager to learn. He loved golf and was recognized in various golfing leagues throughout the state.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Dr. Sharon K. Eads Davis; parents, Henry Ealon Davis and Evie Lucille Davis; brothers, Henry Ealon Davis, Jr. and Raymond L. Davis, and sister- in -law, Anita Bond Davis.

Jimmy is survived by his brother, Hoyt E. (Woody) Davis and sister-in-law, Jeana Davis; six nieces and nephews, Stormy (Edgar) Lambert, Danielle (Philip) Anderson, Tracey (James) Shockley, Raymond (Dynitia) Davis, Darwin Davis and Jeff (Mandi) Davis, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Moss Point, MS. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mitch Osborne officiating. A graveside service will follow at Griffin Cemetery in Moss Point, MS.
