Danny Ray Biddix, age 64, of Parkwood Hill Heights in Spruce Pine, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.

Born on December 24, 1956 in McDowell County, he was the son of the late Daniel L. Biddix and Ina Claudine Grindstaff Biddix who still survives. Danny Ray was a member of the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. He was a 1976 graduate of Harris High School and was a member of the Harris High School Blue Devils football team.

Danny Ray was currently serving as the District Supervisor for Project Challenge in the 24th Judicial District. In the past, Danny Ray was a beloved school bus driver for Mitchell County Schools for many years and served as a transportation officer for Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office. In addition to those jobs, Danny Ray was well-known for being a local business owner for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending Mitchell High School wrestling matches. He also loved working with youth and foster children.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of forty-five years; Sue Boyd Biddix of the home; his sons; Josh Biddix and wife, Chantel of Spruce Pine and Justin Biddix and wife, Anthea of Bakersville; his mother; Ina Claudine Biddix of Spruce Pine; his sister; Susan McKinney and husband, Daniel of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren; Liam, Ellie, Aubree, and Holden Ray; his nieces; Kylie McKinney and Haley Gowdy and husband, Steve and their children; Eli, Emily, and EllaBree.

A time to view and sign the register book will be on Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 12:00 noon until 1:30 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church. The funeral service will be on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Grassy Creek Baptist Church with Rev’s Bruce Cannon and Gene Self officiating. Burial will be in the Grassy Creek Memorial Gardens
