Aileen Albersworth of Lacombe, Alberta and former resident of Grande Cache and Bluesky, Alberta died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Lacombe Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Calgary, Alberta on January 14, 1924 to Victor and Elizabeth Stewart, Aileen was a gifted storyteller and teacher. She wrote several short stories, one of which won first prize in the regional competition for the Alberta Senior Summer Games in 2001. Aileen published one book, A Light In the Peace, in 1980. After she retired as a teacher's aide from Brownvale Elementary School, she spent her later years writing a second book, What Shall It Profit A Man?, currently in publication.Throughout her life, Aileen spent countless happy hours volunteering as a Sabbath School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Vegetarian Cooking School instructor, and Adventist Community Services worker.Aileen enjoyed nurturing a large vegetable garden and several colourful flowerbeds. She was also an excellent cook and was renowned for her pies and doughnuts. Aileen is survived by her husband, Gordon; her brother, Merle Stewart, her daughters, Patricia (Wendell) Wettstein and Joy (Cornelius) Fehr; her sons, Daniel (Thea) Stephens, Russell (Donna) Albersworth and Ted (Holly) Albersworth; her former daughter-in-law, JoAnne Murphy; her grandchildren, Michael (Lisa), Lamont (Mary), Alina (Adam), Brina (Chad), Carla (Rob), Mira (Ken), Kira, Corey, Seth,Cole, Garry (Shelley) and Trevor (Heather); great grandchildren, Stewart, Cassie, Matthew, Luke, Heath, Madison, Lexie, Avery, Brandon, Brooklyn, Kyria, Damian, Aurora, Michael, Aliyah and Clayton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.The funeral service will be held at the College Heights Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lacombe, Alberta on October 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Lacombe, AB.
