Paul H. Mueller
January 19, 1931 - February 4, 2021
Wichita, Kansas - Paul Henry Mueller was born on January 19, 1931, in Paoli, Indiana, to Roy and Hilda Mueller. He died on February 4, 2021, in Wichita, Kansas. He completed his bucket list by hitting age 90, and was happy to rejoin his wife of 68 years, Phyllis, in heaven. Paul grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, graduated from Hanover College in 1952 (major in Classical Languages, and minor in Geology), and McCormick Theological Seminary, in 1955. From there he pastored mostly small Presbyterian churches in the Midwest until he retired from Yates City, Illinois, in 1994. He served churches in Beaverton, MI, Thorntown and Howe, IN, Park Ridge and Yates City, IL, and Coffeyville, KS. He also served on and led numerous church committees including a church camp directorship and stated clerk of several presbyteries. His life outside of work was amazing to all who knew him. He was skilled in woodworking, auto mechanics, and built everything from canoes to cars to airplanes. He loved sharing his skills with others and was known to be able to fix anything within family circles. He and Phyllis had an adventuring spirit, and camped across the USA with their kids. After kids, they cruised and toured the world, visiting over 50 countries in all continents, including visits above the Arctic Circle and Antarctica. Paul was always very supportive of all of his kids and grandkids and loved spending time with family. He is survived by three children, Kathy (Tom), Thomas (Heather), and Susan (Aaron), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David (Anne), and an infant daughter, Elizabeth. We will always remember Paul and Phyllis walking hand in hand everywhere they went. They truly were a single unit. We will cherish his memories forever. A private family celebration of life will be held soon, that will be streamed to extended family and friends. Memorial gifts may be donated to Westminster Woods, a Church camp in Kansas that Paul supported and loved.
