Elwood Citizen Succumbs This Afternoon at Home of Son In South J Street.
George Marion Widener, 77, residing at 1900 South J street, died at 1:35 o'clock this afternoon at the home of a son, Orbie Widener, 1614 South J street, of infirmities of age and complications, after an illness of several weeks.
The son of John and Amanda Widener, he was born in Rush county September 29, 1850, and on September 2, 1885, he was united in marriage to Laura Fitch.
He was a highly esteemed citizen and enjoyed a widw acquaintance.
Surviving besides the widow are one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Mittendorf, of Elwood; two sons, Orbie Widener, at whose home he died, and Jesse Widener, of Elwood, one brother, John Widener, of Anderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Luella Groover, Elwood, and Mrs. Alice Anderson, of Summitville. There are twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral Sunday.
The body was removed to the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home and will remain there until tomorrow afternoon.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Shiloh Friends Church, northeast of the city, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Polly Couch Bowman in charge. Burial will be made in the city cemetery.
