Maida was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on January 6, 1924, to the late Daniel Miller Cadwalder and Gertrude Cadwalder. She was the youngest of five girls, so she never lacked instruction or a playmate. Her sisters were her best friends throughout her life.
Maida married Maurice Eugene Martin on November 14, 1940, in Houston, Texas, where they made their home for many years. They had one son, Bert Eugene Martin. Maida was a wonderful cook, an avid fisher, and an astute bookkeeper. During the last 60 years of her life, her church family was her main focus of devotion.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Maurice Martin.
Survivors include her son, Bert Martin and his wife, Cora, of Waxahachie; grandchildren: Bambi Bratton and her husband, David, of Austin, Jill Tew and her husband, Monty, of Round Rock, and Jerad Martin, of Waxahachie; and grandchildren: Chase, Ford, and Gabriel Tew, and Kinsley, Lily, and Logan Martin.
