Obituary: Virginia Edith (Bell) Wood, age 95, passed away on February 26th, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Christian Home, Bealeton, Virginia.

Virginia was born on July 2nd, 1914 at Cannon Branch, Virginia. She was married to Olonzo Wallace Wood, Sr. on November 11th, 1934. They lived and raised their six children on a farm in the Nokesville area.

She was always a hard worker, never leaving her hands idle, as she worked on the farm, crocheted, sewed for her family, canned and gardened, sewed quilts for missions, and taught her children and grandchildren many life values. She was an active member of the Nokesville Church of the Brethren all of her life and served her Lord as a Sunday School teacher and Deacon's wife. She was meal coordinator for many church suppers and was a member of the Martha Early Circle and Faithful Climbers Class in the church. Though a strict disciplinarian, she was not above dancing the Charleston for her family or wrestling with her sons. She and Wallace loved to travel and toured many states, Puerto Rico, and worked on several short-term mission projects to Mexico.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, and one son, Roy Alexander. She is survived by her five children, Sarah Burke of Nokesville, Va., Bertha Walls of Florida, Olonzo Wood, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Cadott, Wisconsin, Mary Gough and her husband Alden of Nokesville, Va. and James Wood and his wife Virginia of Pennsylvania; fourteen grandchildren; forty two great-grandchildren and seven and a half great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 1st, 2010 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren, 13002 Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville, VA 20182, where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the church sanctuary, with Pastor Charles Webb officiating.

Interment will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Nokesville, Va.
