Jessica Ann Walter, formerly Jessica Barbieux, of Leesburg, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2010, following a long courageous battle with heart disease. Born in Harrodsburg, Ky on May 26, 1929, she graduated from Harrodsburg High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. She moved to Leesburg in 1951 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg. She was also an active member of the Junior Woman's Club and a school volunteer. In 1982, she moved to Lighthouse Point, Fla., and worked seasonally at the Rock House Inn on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. In 1991 she moved to Smyrna, Ga., she was an active member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. She returned to Leesburg in 2001. She loved traveling, dancing, reading, the beach and especially her loyal cat, "Ty." Ms. Walter is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Barbieux Stoer, Crystal River, Fla., and Elizabeth A. Barbieux of Leesburg. Grandchildren; Jake Stoer, III and Kim Stoer Myers both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sgt. Adam Howard, USMC, Beaufort, S.C. She is also survived by her sisters, Emily Demarest of Lexington, Ky., and Patsy Hardin of Madison, Miss., several nieces and nephews, and a soon to be great-grandson, "Jack." No service has been scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
