J.M. McCARTY DIES AT HOME HERE
-FUNERAL HELD AT COMMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH SUNDAY
J.M. McCarty, a resident of this community for many years, died at his home here Thursday night, June 1, 1933, after an illness of several months, being seriously ill and confined to his bed for the past three weeks.
John Marion McCarty, son of Jonathan and Elizabeth McCarty, was born at the farm home near New Harmony Church, Aug. 25, 1856. Here he spent his childhood and early manhood. He moved to La Plata in 1894, and here he has lived. He was married to Ermine Terrell of Anabel, Missouri, Apr. 25, 1888, more than 45 years ago.
To them were born two children, both of whom survive their father, Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Decker of Maitland, Missouri, and Marion Ellis McCarty of La Plata.
He made confessions of his faith and united with the Community Presbyterian Church, Nov. 21, 1926.
He is survived by his two children; his wife; and two grandchildren, John Milton and Patricia McCarty.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, June 4, at the Community Presbyterian Church. Burial was made in the La Plata Cemetery.
