Margaret Ann Anderson journeyed to heaven Christmas morning, with her daughters at her side and family members & friends holding her in their thoughts & prayers.

Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband Al and sons Mike and Mark. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her daughters Mandy & Chris, grandchildren Nick & Jacob (Mark & Monica Anderson), Elizabeth & Jurgen (Mike & Julianne Anderson), Lise & Greg (Christine & George Althoff), and great-grandsons Joshua, Caleb (Lise & Andy Jamison) and Milo (Greg & Krystal Althoff). Margaret valued the unique qualities of each member of her family, encouraging each of them to pursue their personal & professional dreams. She & Al loved visiting with their children & grandchildren, friends, relatives, and former students as often as possible.

Extended family members Carly Manson, Rosemarie & Tom Schnalzer, Connie & Mike Scheid, Sam Contreras, Betsy Anderson, Janet Hale, Connie Williams, Jim & Colleen Moore, and countless friends, colleagues, and students each have their own special memories of time shared with Margaret.

An avid reader, Margaret was interested in a wide variety of topics. She enjoyed engaging in discussions & lively debates surrounding current events. She & Al loved history, music and the arts and instilled in their children & grandchildren that same love. Always eager to challenge her mind, seldom did the sun set without conversations about the cryptogram or crossword puzzle she'd just completed or book she'd read. Her quick wit & sense of humor often resulted in much shared laughter.

Because Christmas was Margaret's favorite time of year, the Anderson home was always filled with scents, sounds, and decorations that welcomed friends & family with the spirit of this holy season of gratitude & hope. Baptized, confirmed and married in the Catholic Church, Margaret attended mass at St. Matthew's Church and enjoyed Fellowship Gatherings there for many years after she & Al moved to the upper valley.

Margaret graduated from El Paso High School and Texas Western College. She dedicated her life to teaching elementary & middle school students and shared her expertise with pre-service teachers seeking certification at both UTEP & ESC Region 19 for many years, fostering in others her love of inquiry & life-long learning. She enjoyed attending UTEP Miner Basketball games and El Paso High School Alumnae events and supporting charitable organizations, including the UTEP Women's Auxiliary, the Assistance League of El Paso and the El Paso Community Foundation.

Margaret's family would like to thank friends & family for the many visits, calls, texts, and cards they shared. Each thoughtful message & conversation lifted her spirits, leaving her with a smile. Thanks to Fr. Frank at St. Matthews, Dr. George Jackson & the Well-Med Team, and Envision Hospice. Mandy & Chris would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Elva Soto, heal care provider, and Belinda Padilla, Nurse Practitioner, for their kindness & special care of their mom these past several months.

A memorial service in honor of Margaret Ann Anderson will be held on Friday January 29, 2021 at 11 am at Martin Funeral Home West followed by private Inurnment at 1 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In consideration of current circumstances, the service will be live-streamed for those who wish to join the family in celebrating her life at www.martinfuneralhomewest.com.
