The diphtheritic scourge is having a fatal run in the little town of Kilgore. Of the 40 families who live there, there were only four that are not or had not been afflicted. "You couldn't see a child out on the streets last week," said our informant. There were five deaths in one week -- four from this disease. D. B. Miller's youngest son, aged two years, (Waldo), died on the 24th and was buried on Christmas day. A daughter of P. E. Miller, aged 7 years, (Thurza) died about the same time. They were brother's children. Both were buried the same afternoon--one at one o'clock and the other at three. J. B. Brandt's son, Bert, aged seven years, died on the 21st and was buried on the 22d.
