Chester A. Davis, 92


WINCHESTER - Chester A. Davis, 92, passed away with many of his family at his side on October 11, 2007, at the Randolph Nursing Home. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Chester was born on October 8, 1915, the 8th child of Elmer and Estella (Eskew) Davis of Beloit, WI. He was the last descendent of his generation. Chester lived in the Winchester area for many years, before moving to Angola and then back to Winchester.

He retired from the Ball State University Carpenter Shop in 1981.

Chester is survived by his present wife, Julia V. (Rutledge) Davis; 7 children, Fred (wife, Patti) Davis, Charles (wife, Jenny) Davis, and Pam (husband, Rod) Carpenter, all of Winchester, Alice (husband, Paul) Franks of Portland, Sandra (husband, Frank) Potter of Churubusco, Darlene (husband, Richard) Hart of Parker City and Richard (wife, Wanda) Davis of Rudolph, WI; 6 step-daughters, Frances (husband, Willie) Brandenburg of Winchester, Judy (husband, George) Neutz, Martha (husband, Dave) McCoy, Faye (husband, Gary) Musser, Shirley (husband, Brice) Wellons, and Pat (husband, Bill) Pierce, all in the Angola area; 61 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 47 years, Dorothy M. (Small) Davis, from Parker City; 3 brothers ;and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Voice for Christ Church in Winchester, with Rev. Mike Konkle officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Maxville.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester
