Hugh Spencer Amos, 70, died Saturday afternoon at Carroll County Hospital after a lingering illness. He was born April 18, 1882, son of the late Joshua and Mary V. (Cogsil) Amos of Perry Township. During his active life, Mr. Amos was employed for the most part in farm work. He was a resident of Carrollton for a number of years.
He is survived by two sons, Harvey of Canton and James of Columbus; four daughters, Mrs. Mary McConnell, Dora and Virginia of Carrollton and Mrs. Ruth Cassidy of Massillon; one brother, Jerome of Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Barnhouse, Mrs. Grace Miller, Mrs. Helen Morehead of Carrollton and Mrs. Charity Lanning of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and four grandchildren. Services were Tuesday from the Arbaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Russell W. Shepherd officiating. Burial was in the Kilgore Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
