Mr Tuthill was a self-employed building contractor in Mattituck for over 50 years . He was a 58-year member and former chief of the Mattituck Fire Department. He also served as a Mattituck fire commissioner for 20 years.
He was born on Dec 31, 1900, the son of Edward and Hattie Tuthill. He is survived by a daughter, Jean Mileska of Mattituck; two sons, Alfred of South Jamesport and Harry of Mattituck; a brother Allyn of Mattituck; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours were held at DeFriest Funeral Home, Mattituck. A funeral service was conducted at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Mattituck, followed by interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cutchogue.
