I am quit sure in 1866 when Josiah Daniel, built his log cabin home along the Big Sandy, he no thoughts of his old log cabin home to become A fixter along side the Woodson County Museum. It has done just that as it now stands along side the woodson county historical society, in Yates Center, Kansas. Like so many other settlers out on the fronteer the log cabin was the strongest, most durable, and yes the most practical for the time. Josiah was born in 1828 in Shelby County, IL. his grandfather Josiah Daniel Sr. was building one of the first cabins in Shelbyville, that same year (1828).
