Barnes, Mrs. Virginia I.
Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on November 25, 2015 surrounded by her family. Age 88 years. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 25, 1927 to the late Charles and Mary (Demko) Kristinek, Virginia (Ginny) married Robert (Barney) Barnes on April 23, 1949 at Grace Lutheran Church. Ginny, a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, treasured spending time with her family and friends. She loved music and played the accordion, violin, and hammer dulcimer in several groups. Ginny also enjoyed square dancing, riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing in her younger days. But most of all, she enjoyed traveling with Barney, the love of her life and her partner of 66 years. From their first date at the Detroit Zoo and a Tigers game in the summer of 1947, Ginny and Barney remained true, devoted, and beloved friends forever. Virginia is survived by her husband Barney Barnes; daughter Kathleen Baird of Freeland, Michigan; two sons, Robert Barnes (Margaret) of Cedar Falls, Iowa; David Barnes (Dana) of Louisville, Kentucky; brother Chuck Kristinek, Bridgeport, Michigan; grandchildren, William Baird, Jason Baird, Jesse Barnes, Lauren Barnes, Grant Barnes, Grace Barnes; two great-grandchildren, Aidyn and Liam; nephews, Chris Coleman, John Coleman, Mike Kristinek, Steve Kristinek, Virginia was predeceased by her sister, Nancy Ann Power. The Barnes family wishes to thank Hospice Advantage and A&D Home Health Care for the love and care provided to Ginny.

Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 2525 Hemmeter Road in Saginaw. Pastor Jeff Bonn will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
