LEXINGTON: DAVE CLEVER lived a fulfilled life. He was funny yet still gentle. He enjoyed nature but truly loved being surrounded by his family. A loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and Navy veteran, Dave knew about sacrifice, devotion and loyalty.

A man who appreciated life and all of it's experiences, David N. Clever of Lexington, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, Wednesday morning, January 27, 2021. He died at peace and with dignity. He was 82.

The son of Norman and Claudia (Hiser) Clever, Dave was born in Lexington on November 28, 1938. He graduated from Johnsville High School in 1956 and was one of the best halfbacks ever to play for Johnsville. A fast and strong runner, Dave once scored 5 touchdowns in the conference All-S tar football game! To this day he still enjoyed the company of his classmates.

Following high school Dave joined the Navy serving from 1956-1958.

He first met Beverly Farst while on a blind date. It was their first and last blind date as the two were married on June 21, 1957. Dave and Beverly bought their first home just south of Lexington, where they still reside.

Dave enjoyed his career as a semi-truck driver, working for numerous companies over the span of his 31 year career. During his career, Dave earned the prestigious Million Mile Club award. An award only handed to drivers who drove 1 million miles without a ticket, accident or any other demerit.

Dave appreciated nature especially hunting and boating. He cherished the many day’s deer hunting with his son Mike and grandsons Chris and Clayton. Dave taught Beverly to fish, and together they enjoyed fishing from their boat on Lake Erie. When time allowed, he also looked forward to day rides on his Harley Davidson.

Vacations were just extra opportunities for Dave to make special memories with his family. He looked forward to the many trips to Florida. Pappy loved vacationing with his granddaughter Hannah Whitney. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and delicious sea food dinners shared in the company of his family. He cherished the many years of friendship and love that he shared with Tom and Nancy Llewellyn.

A big sports fan, Dave was a passionate Cleveland Browns and Indians fan as well as the Ohio State Buckeyes. He rarely missed a game.

Dave attended Storyside Church. A wonderful family-man, Dave was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years Beverly Farst Clever of Lexington; children Mike (Cheryl) Clever of Marysville, Mary Beth (Mike) Whitney of Lexington, Ken (Mindy) Clever of Ashland, Carrie Clever of Ashland; 9 grandchildren including his special granddaughter Hannah Whitney; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Dale Clever of Galion and John (Kim) Clever of Johnsville; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Dave’s family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the special care given by Destiny Walters, Dave’s hospice nurse.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by four siblings Juanita Volz, Katie Stewart, Harold Clever and Beatrice Dorminy.

The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Clever family. Services will not be held at this time. However his family will have a Memorial Celebration at a later date.
