Alvin Jackson Roper, 79, of Hueytown, AL passed away January 27, 2021. Alvin retired from Alabama Power Company in 1996. He was an active member of Valley Creek Baptist Church, a veteran of the US Air Force, and a 1959 graduate of Hueytown High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and fixing most anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hettie Roper. Alvin is survived by his wife, Anita Bedford Roper; his children, Cathy (Larry) Mims and Steven (Shannon) Roper; his grandchildren, Kristin (Kevin) Douglass, Corey (Macy) Mims, Chandler Roper, Maxwell Roper and Major Roper; his great grandchildren, Makinley, Brinley, Evelyn, Walker and Waylon; his brothers, David (Susan) Roper, and Ronald Roper. Graveside service will be Friday, January 29, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Valley Creek Cemetery. Bro. Bob Weber will be officiating the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Valley Creek Baptist Church Children's Building Fund at 3253 Virginia Drive, Hueytown, AL 35023, (205) 491-3330.
