Henry Jackson Vantreese
Henry Jackson Vantreese age 83, passed away quietly on Thursday, March 7, 2019. He had been a resident of Wilkins Health & Rehab Community for several months.
At the family's request cremation has taken place and a service's will be held at a later date, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.
Jack, as he was known to most people, was born June the 28, 1935 to Seldon & Viola Bell Vantresse in Duncan. His father passed away a few days after his birth. His mother later married Bert Johnson, who became "Daddy" to Jack. He grew up in the Central Community and graduated high school there. Jack married his high school sweetheart, Juanita Corrine Johnson in May of 1955. They had two daughters, Jahree & Jackie. Juanita passed away in 1991. The had 36 years together. In June of 1992 he married Peggy Hickman. They lived in Sulphur, Oklahoma for many years.
He was a "Jack" of all trades, spending time in the Army National Guard, driving a truck for Halliburton, Lance Cookies, Gilt Edge Milk and selling insurance, also working at Goodner's Big G for many years. Most of all he loved cooking for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Juanita, a daughter; Jackie Howard and a sister; Pat Blackburn.
He is survived by his wife; Peggy of Edmond, Oklahoma, a daughter; Jahree Taylor and her husband Donnie of Duncan, Oklahoma, a sister; May Johnson of Duncan, Oklahoma, 4 grandchildren; Caysie Martin & her husband Jason of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Wesley Taylor & his wife Mia of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Lori Littig & her husband Alan of Duncan, Oklahoma and Emily Howard of Duncan, Oklahoma and 5 precious great-grandchildren.
