John Wilson Butterbaugh age 72 of IOWA CITY, IA passed away at the VA Hospital in Iowa City Friday 1/15/21. John was born April 8th 1948 to Delmar and Dorothy (Anderson) Butterbaugh in Iowa City IA.

John graduated from Oskaloosa IA Senior High School in 1967. He served briefly in the Navy and attended AIB and became an Assistant Manager for Long John Silvers in Des Moines, IA. John worked as a truck driver and held several other jobs before retiring.

John never married. He loved his family and collected End of the Trail memorabilia, fishing and watching Iowa Hawkeye sports.

John was preceded in death by his parents Delmar and Dorothy Butterbaugh, brother Clarence (Charlie) and sister Nelda and brother-in-law Jim. John is survived by his brothers Paul (Karen) Butterbaugh Northfield, MN Laverne (Betty) Butterbaugh Boone, IA. Nieces Amy Ginter MN, Melanie (Jeff) Ewald MN, Nicole (Dan) Neubauer Ankeny, IA, Tereza (Richard) Butterbaugh-Baker Des Moines, IA, Christy (Zach) Cox Oskaloosa, IA , Candace (Craig) Ranfield, Jennifer Foster Newton IA, Stephanie Evans Newton, IA, nephews Michael (Tammy) Heaton Des Moines IA and Jeff Butterbaugh MO, and 20 great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held at a later date.
