Grace Jenny Visker passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Grace was born in Ellsworth, MN to Jullo and Winnie (Mulder) Visker on December 31, 1921. She grew up speaking only Dutch. In fact, she could not speak nor understand English when she began school. By the time she graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1939, she was proficient in the English language and so were her parents.

In November of 1945, Grace married Vernon (Bud) Kass. The couple moved to Adrian, MN where Bud worked as a mechanic and Grace as a homemaker. Within a couple of years, they began farming. Over the next 28 years they had farms in Kanaranzi MN, Adrian MN, St. Killian MN, and Rushmore MN. Grace helped feed the livestock, grew large vegetable gardens, raised chickens, and canned enough vegetables for an entire year. In 1975 Grace and Bud sold the farm and moved to Worthington, MN. Briefly, Grace worked as a cook at the Gateway Cafe.

Grace could be described as one of the most selfless people. She was a caretaker through and through. Her main career was a stay-at-home mom raising 6 children and caring for two of her grandchildren full-time. In the later years of their marriage, Grace was the full-time caretaker for her husband who suffered and died from dementia.

In 2004, Grace moved to Primrose Assisted Living in Sioux Falls, SD. In 2018, Grace moved to the Good Samaritan Village, a skilled nursing facility where she remained until December of 2020.

When Grace was not caring for others, she enjoyed sewing, embroidery and crocheting. Quilts and afgans were her favorite items to make for family members.

Grateful for witnessing her beautiful smile and wonderful giggle are her 3 children Dennis (Virginia) Mankato MN, Linda (Vern) Eagan MN, Gayle (David) Paynesville MN, 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, children Randy, Curt and Lori, grandchild Travis, and brother Dick.

Grace's funeral will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, January 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with a one hour visitation prior to her service with family present.
