A memorial service will be held March 4, 1945 at 9th & O Baptist Church for Staff Sgt. Bruce R. "Brooks" Shacklette, son of Mrs. Mattie Roberts Shacklette and the late Dr. J. P. Shacklette of Meade County, Kentucky.

He had been in the U.S.Army since 1942 and over seas for 18 months. On January 14, 1945 he made the supreme sacrifice to his Country in Belgium.

Brooks was one of four sons born to Mr and Mrs Shacklette and the last to called to death.
