Lee Thorpe Yourman, 83, OF Wetumpka, AL, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Yourman and Alice Thorpe Yourman, and a sister, Anne Ninesling.
He is survived by his loving wife Opal Yourman (Sue); children, Marlene Chambers and Jeffrey Yourman (Becky); fondly known as “Granga” by his five grandchildren, Nicole Stephens (Seth), Matthew Chambers, Justin Yourman, Jessica Alves and Robyn Chambers; great grandchildren, Aubrey Stephens and Ashton Alves.

He was a member of Frazer Memorial for 30 years and served as a Sunday School Teacher for 22 years, and a supporter of the United Methodist Children’s Home. He was active in the PTA, Jr. Achievement Jaycees of Chicago, Weblos Leader and Scoutmaster, Advisor of Explorer Post, District Committee and Order of the Arrow Member; He was awarded District Award of Merit and Silver Beaver Award from the Tukabatchee Area Council.

He received his BS in Business Administration from Marietta College and worked for Pure Oil, and retired from Union Oil of California. In 1981 he started his own business in the Truckstop Industry where he was still actively working.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Minister Neil Epler officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Cephus Goldsmith, Ed Herbst, Steven Young, Seth Stephens, Justin Yourman and Matthew Chambers.
