Arnold James Kline's obit

NEW BETHLEHEM - Arnold James Kline, 78, of New Bethlehem, died Monday, January 8, 1996, at Clarion Hospital. Born November 11, 1917, in St. Charles, Armstrong County, he was a son of the late Robert and Mable (Dixon) Kline. He married Gladene Over on September 12, 1945. She survives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September.
Mr. Kline was an industrail arts teacher at Redbank Valley High School when he retired in 1975. His 38 years of teaching in Pennsylvania started in a one-room school in Monroe Township, Clarion County. He was a member of the New Bethlehem First United Methodist Church. Mr. Kline was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a navigator on a B-17 that was shot down in the Bay of Biscay. He spent 17 months in a German POW camp. He was a First Lieutenant when he was discharged. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed making wood projects. He also was an active gardener.
Survivors include his wife and three sons, Bob Kline of Bettenddorf, Iowa, Ken Kline of Coatsville and David Kline of Oakridge; one daughter, Mary Lou McNabb of St. Louis, Mo.; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Lester Kline of New Castle and a sister, Orpha Carnahan of Clarion. Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Merle Kline and Gene Kline.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today (Wednesday) at the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. John Uhrin, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Intermentd will follow at the Churchville Lutheran Cemetery near Curllsville in Clarion County.
